Ajit Pawar Says He Trusts Baramati Voters in Election Battle Against Nephew

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP president, Ajit Pawar, is getting ready for an intense election in Baramati, where he’ll face his own nephew, Yugendra Pawar. Ajit, confident in the loyalty of the people of Baramati, expressed his faith in voters who have supported him in past elections.

The Family Rivalry Begins

On Thursday, Sharad Pawar, leader of the rival NCP(SP) faction, announced that 32-year-old Yugendra, Ajit’s nephew, would contest for the seat in Baramati. This sets up a big family face-off in the assembly elections scheduled for November 20.

When asked about this rivalry, Ajit Pawar downplayed it, saying, "These fights are normal in politics. Anyone can contest." He is hopeful the people of Baramati will support him as they have for the past several elections. Vote counting will take place on November 23, when the final result will be revealed.

Ajit’s Track Record and Confidence

Ajit highlighted all the development work he has done in Baramati, asking voters to compare his achievements to other constituencies. He reminded them of his past victories, saying, "In the last election, I won with a record margin of 1.65 lakh votes." Ajit will officially submit his nomination on October 28 and believes the people of Baramati will stand by him once more.

Coalition Discussions Continue

Ajit Pawar also mentioned that his party, part of the Mahayuti alliance with the BJP and Shiv Sena (led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde), is still deciding on candidate seats. The Mahayuti is working out seat-sharing for the 288 assembly seats. Ajit added that 10% of the seats his party receives will go to candidates from minority communities, though he acknowledged, "We can’t make everyone happy."

Meanwhile, the BJP has released a list of 99 candidates, and NCP and Shiv Sena have declared 45 candidates each. Ajit met with top BJP leaders in Delhi to finalize plans.

In short, the Baramati election is heating up, with Ajit Pawar facing a strong challenge from his own family. The outcome will be a closely watched moment in Maharashtra politics, especially with family loyalty and political strategy at stake
