Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh Concert Scams: ED Raids Across 5 States to Crack Down on Fake Ticket Sales

Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh Concert Scams: ED Raids Across 5 States to Crack Down on Fake Ticket Sales

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started a major investigation across five states – Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore – over illegal ticket sales for the popular Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh concerts. This action was triggered by multiple complaints about fake ticket sales and high-priced resale tickets.

Why the Raids Happened

  • Concerts in High Demand: Fans rushed to buy tickets for Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres” tour and Diljit Dosanjh’s “Dil-Luminati” shows on official sites like BookMyShow and Zomato Live, making tickets sell out fast. But the demand led some people to turn to other sources, where scammers saw an opportunity.
  • Fake Ticket Sales: Reports showed that many fans were tricked into buying fake tickets or overpriced tickets on social media and other unauthorized platforms.

ED's Investigation

  • Complaint from BookMyShow: BookMyShow filed a police complaint, or FIR, against several people accused of selling fake tickets at higher prices.
  • Items Seized: During raids across 13 locations, the ED took evidence such as mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards to trace the scam’s network.
  • Use of Social Media: The ED stated that scammers were using platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to sell these fake tickets.

Diljit Dosanjh’s India Tour

Diljit Dosanjh has just completed his shows in the U.S. and Europe and is now kicking off the India leg of his “Dil-Luminati” tour. After shows in Delhi on October 26 and 27, he will head to cities like Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati.
