Costco has recalled several popular fish and meat products across the U.S. over concerns of possible Listeria bacteria contamination. The recall includes items like salmon and chicken products, and Costco has advised customers to stop using these items and return them for a full refund.
Details on Recalled Products
Costco recently sent notices to customers who bought the following affected items:
- Rana Chicken Truffle Carbonara
- Tagliatelle Grilled White Chicken & Portabello Mushroom Sauce
- Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon
The chicken items were sold between September and October, while the salmon was available from October 9 to October 13. Other recalled items include Readywise Emergency Protein Bucket, Red’s Southwestern Grill Chicken Mini Burritos, and El Monterey Mexican Grill Chicken & Cheese Taquitos. Costco emphasized that these items should not be consumed due to the risk of contamination.
Other Recalls This Week
This Costco recall comes just after nearly 700 waffle products across brands like Kodiak and Good & Gather were also recalled for possible Listeria contamination. Although no one has reported getting sick from any of these recalled items, the FDA advises anyone worried about symptoms to reach out to a healthcare provider.
What is Listeria?
Listeria is a bacteria that can cause a serious illness called listeriosis. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, confusion, and digestive problems. It can be especially dangerous for older adults, people with weak immune systems, and pregnant women, potentially leading to miscarriages or stillbirths.
The FDA warns that Listeria can be life-threatening for vulnerable groups and advises everyone to avoid eating these recalled items until further notice.
