Elon Musk Brings Cash and Controversy to Pennsylvania Voters

Billionaire Elon Musk recently toured Pennsylvania for four days, using his fame and fortune to support Republican Donald Trump in the upcoming election. He visited rallies where he talked about various topics, like artificial intelligence, government rules, and even vaccines.

During his visit, Musk made several false claims about election fraud, echoing what Trump has said for years. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of the social media platform X even gave away $2 million in cash, splitting it between two lucky people who signed his online petition supporting U.S. constitutional rights.

At a church event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Musk surprised a crowd of about 1,500 people by announcing he was giving away $1 million. The first winner was John Dreher, who jumped on stage wearing a red MAGA cap and cheered with excitement.

“I’ve been following you for 10 years! I got your biography a decade ago!” he said to Musk.

On another day, Musk awarded another $1 million to Kristine Fishell, who looked shocked when her name was called. “Thank you so much! I truly believe in everything you’re doing!” she said.

What’s the Catch?

Musk's giveaways are randomly chosen from people who signed his petition and are registered voters in important states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona. However, this has raised some legal questions.

Spreading Conspiracies

Musk has also shared some conspiracy theories similar to those pushed by Trump. He revived false claims that voting machines rig elections, which have been proven wrong many times. He mentioned Dominion Voting Systems, a company that previously sued Fox News over false claims of election fraud. Dominion has settled the lawsuit for $787 million.

“There’s always a question about the Dominion voting machines. It’s strange they’re used in some places but not others,” Musk said, inaccurately claiming they are used in Philadelphia.

He also made unproven accusations that Democrats are bringing in large numbers of migrants into battleground states and hinted that Vice President Kamala Harris would legalize them if she wins. The Harris campaign did not comment on this.

Calling for Evidence

Many people at Musk's events seemed to believe that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, despite no evidence. When asked how he would prevent this from happening again, Musk suggested aiming for a big margin of victory to outpace any cheating. He encouraged attendees to use his platform to share any evidence of election fraud.

“If people think there’s fraud, they should post the images and videos,” Musk said.

Regulations and Rants

Musk, who has many government contracts, was asked about the rules that affect his businesses. He joked that if he became head of a government efficiency commission, he’d love to get rid of silly regulations. “I think a bonfire of nonsense regulations would be epic!” he said.

He shared a story about how SpaceX had to conduct studies to see if his rockets would harm sharks and whales when landing in the ocean. He thought it was silly but agreed to the studies anyway.
