How to Keep Your Pets Safe and Stress-Free During Diwali

Diwali is full of fun for us, but it can be very scary for pets. Loud fireworks, bright lights, and smoke in the air can make pets stressed or even sick. It’s important for pet owners to know how to keep their furry friends calm and safe. Dr. Shantanu Kalambi, a top vet at Supertails, says, “Pets are super sensitive during Diwali. It’s essential for pet parents to be ready and know what to do if their pet feels scared or gets hurt.”

Here are some easy steps you can follow to keep your pet safe and happy this Diwali:

  1. Stay Calm Yourself
If your pet is upset, try to stay calm. Pets can feel your emotions, so if you panic, they might get even more scared. Take deep breaths, relax, and handle the situation with a cool mind.

  2. Check Your Pet
Look over your pet to see how they are doing. If they are bleeding a lot or struggling to breathe, it’s serious, and you should go to the vet right away. For less serious problems, see if you can make them comfortable before taking them to the vet.

  3. Give Quick First Aid if Needed
For minor injuries, you can clean the area and make sure your pet is comfortable. Even if it doesn’t look bad, it’s a good idea to take them to the vet later to be safe.

  4. Watch for Sickness Signs
Pets can get sick from breathing in smoke or getting scared by loud noises. If your pet is vomiting, has diarrhea, or seems very tired, take them to the vet right away.

  5. Look for Other Signs of Trouble
If your pet won’t eat, seems very thirsty, has pale gums, a fever, or is coughing or sneezing, don’t ignore these signs. It could mean they are unwell and need a vet.

  6. Call the Vet if Unsure
If you’re not sure what’s wrong, it’s always better to ask a vet. Even small symptoms should be checked to keep your pet healthy and safe.

Knowing how to act fast can make Diwali less stressful for your pet and help keep them safe and sound.
