India Names Canadian Border Official in Terror Case Amid Diplomatic Tensions Over Nijjar Killing

India has added a Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) officer, Sandeep Singh Sidhu, to its list of wanted terrorists, escalating tensions with Canada over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Sidhu, who works for the CBSA, is accused of being part of the banned International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF) and of promoting terrorism in India’s Punjab region. His alleged ties to Pakistan-based Khalistan terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode and involvement with other ISI operatives have raised concerns. Sidhu is also believed to have played a role in the 2020 assassination of Balwinder Singh Sandhu.

This development comes as India and Canada are locked in a diplomatic dispute, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) accusing India of targeting Sikh separatists in Canada. They claim Indian diplomats are sharing information with Indian criminal groups, who have been involved in drive-by shootings, extortions, and even murders of Sikh activists in Canada.

India has rejected these allegations as "absurd" and, in retaliation, expelled Canada’s acting High Commissioner and five other diplomats from the country.

The case of Sandeep Singh Sidhu adds fuel to the growing tension between the two nations, as the international community watches the situation unfold.
