Israel Hits Lebanon After Hezbollah Attack, Hundreds Flee as Fighting Continues

Israel and Hezbollah, a group in Lebanon, are in the middle of a dangerous fight near the Israel-Lebanon border. Explosions lit up the night sky in northern Israel when Israel's air defenses stopped a wave of rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon. The Israeli army said they had stopped 25 rockets. In response, Israel struck back, hitting areas in southern Lebanon. People could see the strikes from northern Israel.

Overnight, Israel also hit sites in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley, saying these places were used by Hezbollah to manage their money. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries so far.

At the same time, a US official named Amos Hochstein is getting ready to meet with Lebanese leaders, including the Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, to talk about ways to stop the fighting. The US is trying to help both sides agree on a ceasefire.

The situation is still tense, and many people have had to leave their homes because of the fighting.
