According to the professional networking site apna.co, job postings have increased by 20% this festive season compared to last year, reaching a total of 216,000 positions. This rise is mainly seen in the logistics and operations, e-commerce, and hospitality sectors.
This year’s festive season is especially significant for businesses as they look to recover from a drop in consumer spending during the summer and election periods. Companies are eager to boost sales beyond last year’s numbers, as noted by apna.co.
A major factor in this hiring surge is the rapid growth of the quick commerce industry. The logistics and operations sector has seen the biggest increase, with job postings up by an impressive 70%.
Nirmit Parikh, founder and CEO of apna.co, explained, “We usually start preparing for the festive season two months early. However, this year was vital for our employer partners, who expected a 20-25% rise in consumer demand. To help them, we began preparations even sooner, creating a strong talent pipeline.”
The retail and e-commerce sectors have also seen growth, adding 18,000 new jobs in roles such as category growth managers, sales associates, and customer support managers to improve customer experiences.
In the hospitality industry, 14,000 jobs have opened up for positions like restaurant managers, front office staff, and administrative roles.
