Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, promised strong action after a terror attack in Ganderbal killed seven people, including a local doctor and six workers from outside the region. The attack happened at an under-construction tunnel in the Gund area of Ganderbal district.
On Monday, Sinha said he had instructed the security forces to make the terrorists pay for the brutal attack. He posted on social media that the security forces should "exact a price" that terrorists will remember. "The savage attack on these workers will be avenged," he said.
At an event, Sinha emphasized that India will never forget this terrible attack. He pointed out that Pakistan is still a danger to the area, trying to harm innocent people and disturb the peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha added that the region needs to stay alert to threats, work harder to stop drug smuggling, and improve counter-terrorism operations.
During the Police Martyrs’ Day function, Sinha also paid tribute to those who have died in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices will never be forgotten.
Farooq Abdullah, President of the National Conference, also spoke out, criticizing Pakistan for supporting terrorism. He told Pakistan’s leaders that if they want better relations with India, they need to stop these attacks. He firmly said, "Kashmir will never become Pakistan." Abdullah warned Pakistan that if they don’t stop fostering terrorism, there will be serious consequences. He questioned how peace talks can happen if innocent people are being killed.
In his final message, Abdullah stressed that it’s time for Pakistan to end terrorism, or the situation could get much worse. "If they couldn’t create Pakistan here in 75 years, it won’t happen now," he added.
