"MS Dhoni Confirms He’s Ready for IPL: CSK Moves Forward with Retention Plans"

MS Dhoni has finally confirmed he’ll play in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, much to the delight of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). With their star player onboard, CSK is now making plans for the season.

"When he's ready, we couldn’t ask for more," said CSK’s CEO, Kasi Viswanathan, in an interview with Cricbuzz on Saturday. His excitement follows Dhoni’s own recent statement about wanting to enjoy his last years in cricket.

"I just want to make the most of the time I have left in cricket," Dhoni shared with The Times of India. "Playing professionally takes away some of the fun. But now, I want to relax and enjoy the game." Dhoni added that he’s focused on staying fit for nine months a year, so he can perform in the two-and-a-half-month IPL season.

Although many fans expected this announcement, CSK management had been waiting for Dhoni’s official confirmation, which was expected by October 28. Now, with Dhoni’s decision clear, CSK can finalize their player choices.

Viswanathan revealed that Dhoni would soon discuss the final retention plans with N. Srinivasan, the franchise owner. With Dhoni listed as an “uncapped” player, his inclusion in the team will affect the auction pool at INR 4 crore. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is anticipated to be the top choice, followed by rising talent Ruturaj Gaikwad. Matheesha Pathirana, another strong asset for CSK, is likely to be retained as well.

Other potential retentions include Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, and emerging player Sameer Rizvi, with CSK expected to pick two of them. Dhoni’s return to Ranchi from Goa is expected soon, and then final retention talks with Srinivasan will take place.
