Priyanka Chopra Shares the Biggest Difference Between Bollywood and Hollywood: ‘We Use a Lot More Jugaad’

Priyanka Chopra was recently back in India, and her fans were thrilled! She was in Mumbai to launch her new beauty brand, Max Factor. While there, she sat down for an interview with Forbes India and opened up about how working in Bollywood is different from working in Hollywood.

What Did Priyanka Say?

When asked about her experience working in both industries, Priyanka had a lot to say! She explained, “I think every country has its own way of doing things. One big difference I noticed is that Hollywood has so much paperwork! You get tons of emails, and everything is planned super carefully. The timing depends on when you finish shooting the night before, and there's hardly any room for flexibility. It’s very strict and organized.”

Bollywood’s Unique Style

Priyanka then compared this to Bollywood, saying, “In Bollywood, we use a lot of ‘jugaad’—which means we wing it and find quick fixes. We’re more laid-back and often say, ‘Arey, ho jayega, kar lenge!’ (It’ll get done, don’t worry!). It’s a more relaxed and creative way of working. That’s just how we are as a country. Our creativity often feels very spontaneous, and that’s the fun part!”

What Does She Miss About Bollywood?

Priyanka also mentioned what she misses most about Bollywood—those iconic slow-motion dance sequences and singing along to songs in movies! Earlier this year, she attended the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai and danced the night away to Bollywood hits.

What’s Next for Priyanka?

Priyanka was last seen in the American romantic-comedy Love Again. Coming up, she’ll be starring in Heads of State with Idris Elba and John Cena. Plus, she’s all set to play a 19th-century Caribbean pirate in The Bluff. Exciting times ahead for her fans!
