Sirens Sound in Central Israel as Projectile Crosses from Lebanon

Sirens went off in central Israel after a projectile was spotted coming from Lebanon and landing in an empty area, according to the Israeli army on Tuesday.

The alerts were triggered in the Samaria region and in Modi'in Illit, as the military reported in a statement.

Israel has a strong air defense system that has successfully intercepted most missiles and drones fired at it since the start of the Gaza war.

The conflict with Hezbollah began about a year ago when the Iranian-backed group started launching rockets into northern Israel to support Hamas, the Palestinian militant group. Recently, the situation has escalated, with Israel conducting airstrikes in southern Lebanon, targeting areas like Beirut’s southern suburbs and the Bekaa Valley. These attacks have resulted in the deaths of many top Hezbollah leaders and have seen Israeli ground troops crossing into Lebanon.
