"That's Too Much!" – CJI Chandrachud Corrects Lawyer's Slip-up in Court

"That's Too Much!" – CJI Chandrachud Corrects Lawyer's Slip-up in Court

During a hearing on Tuesday, a lawyer made a funny mistake that had Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud cutting him off mid-sentence. The lawyer accidentally referred to Supreme Court Justice Hrishikesh Roy as "Justice Hrishikesh Mukherjee," mixing up the name with a famous Bollywood director.

While discussing a case, the lawyer said, "This matter was before Justice Hrishikesh Mukherjee." Quick to step in, CJI Chandrachud humorously but firmly corrected him: "Hrishikesh Mukherjee or Justice Hrishikesh Roy? You need to know your judges. This is the limit! Please check the website."

The mix-up got some smiles because Hrishikesh Mukherjee is a legendary Indian filmmaker who directed classic movies like Gol Maal in 1979, while Justice Hrishikesh Roy has been serving in the Supreme Court since 2019. He was previously the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court.

This little "Gol Maal" moment in court gave everyone a lighthearted break during an otherwise serious day of hearings!
