US Astronaut Drinks Ketchup in Space—Awesome or Gross?

Astronaut Matthew Dominick, who is living on the International Space Station (ISS), has become a favorite on social media with his fun space videos. His latest post shows him drinking ketchup straight from the bottle while floating around in space, and it's got people talking!

Matthew shared the video on his X account, writing, “This one goes out to all the ketchup lovers. Everyone either thinks it’s awesome or gross—nothing in between!”

What Happens in the Video?

In the video, Dominick shakes the ketchup bottle as another astronaut asks, “What are you doing?” He replies, saying he’s about to drink the ketchup, and then squeezes it right into his mouth. The other astronauts can be heard laughing in the background as they watch.

How Did People React?

People online had mixed reactions. Some thought it was amazing, while others were grossed out. One person commented, “The science behind this is interesting, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of drinking ketchup!” Another said, “That’s disgusting but also really cool!”

Matthew Dominick became a NASA astronaut in 2017. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering and another in Systems Engineering. He also trained at the US Naval Test Pilot School. Now, he’s having fun while working in space!
