Russian President Vladimir Putin had high praise for India’s economic growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the BRICS Summit held in Kazan. Putin highlighted how India has been leading the way with impressive growth, even thanking Modi for his contributions to the summit.
What Did Putin Say?
Putin shared that while many countries talk about boosting their economies, India is actually making it happen. He congratulated India for achieving a growth rate of 7.5%, calling it a success story and an inspiration for others.
"We all talk about the need for high economic growth rates, but you (Modi) are doing it successfully," Putin said. "This 7.5% growth is an example for many of us. We congratulate you on these results."
India: The World’s Fastest-Growing Economy
Putin’s comments came right after an International Monetary Fund (IMF) official mentioned that India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world. With strong economic fundamentals, India is expected to grow at 7% this year and 6.5% in 2025.
A Growing BRICS Alliance
BRICS, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has expanded its membership, now including Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. This expansion reflects the group’s rising influence on the global stage, with India playing a key role in its success.
Putin’s praise for Modi and India highlights how the country’s strong economy is getting recognized worldwide, and how its growth can serve as an example for others.
