External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Brisbane on Sunday, November 3, 2024, as part of his two-nation tour, which will also take him to Singapore. In Brisbane, he addressed the Indian community and highlighted India’s commitment to growing alongside the rest of the world.

"India is growing, but India wants to grow with the world," Jaishankar said, emphasizing that there is global goodwill and a strong desire among countries to work with India. He mentioned that India sees many opportunities for collaboration, especially in education and research, and that India’s image abroad is one of being well-educated, responsible, and hardworking.

Jaishankar noted that India’s brand in the global workforce is strengthened by skills that are essential in fields like AI, electric mobility, and chip technology, which will require global cooperation.

During his visit, Jaishankar will inaugurate India’s fourth consulate in Australia, located in Brisbane. He will also co-chair the 15th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong. Additionally, he will give the keynote address at the second "Raisina Down Under" conference in the Australian Parliament and meet with Australian leaders, business figures, and the media.

Jaishankar expressed his excitement about the visit, posting on X, "Namaste Australia! Landed in Brisbane today. Look forward to productive engagements over the next few days to take forward the India-Australia Dosti."
