On Saturday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that both Israel and the United States could face a “crushing response” if attacks on Iran and its allies continue.
His statement comes amid heightened threats from Iran, which is considering retaliatory action after an Israeli attack on October 26. That attack reportedly targeted military bases and sites in Iran, resulting in the deaths of at least five people. Rising tensions could pull the already unstable Middle East into a larger conflict, as violence escalates in the Israel-Hamas war and Israel’s operations extend into Lebanon.
In a video shared by Iranian state media, Khamenei stated, “The enemies, whether the Zionist regime or the United States, will definitely receive a crushing response for what they are doing to Iran and the resistance front.” He didn’t specify when or how Iran might respond. Earlier, the 85-year-old leader had expressed a more measured approach, noting that any response should be balanced and neither downplayed nor exaggerated.
With these latest remarks, Khamenei’s warning marks a potential turning point in an already volatile region just days before the US presidential election.
