These internships offer hands-on experience in real-world business environments, boosting youth employability and creating a skilled workforce for India’s growing industries.

What is the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme?

The PM Internship Scheme offers a unique chance for young people to gain practical job experience. The scheme’s goal is to bridge the skills gap and empower India’s youth by providing exposure to real working environments. Each intern will receive a monthly stipend of ₹4,500 from the central government via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), and an additional ₹500 from the company’s CSR funds.

Who is eligible for the PM Internship Scheme?

The internship is open to candidates aged 21 to 24 who are not employed full-time. The program is available to individuals who have passed class 10 or higher. However, it excludes post-graduates and those from families with government jobs. Candidates from households where someone earned more than ₹8 lakh in 2023-24 or those who graduated from top institutes like IIT, IIM, or have professional qualifications such as CA or CMA are also not eligible.

How to Apply for the PM Internship Scheme?

To apply, candidates can register on the official portal at pminternship.mca.gov.in. The portal will be open for the first batch of internships from October 12 to October 25. Applicants must provide basic information about their education and residential pin codes. Using Artificial Intelligence tools, the portal will match candidates to companies based on their location and the company's requirements.

What Are the Benefits of the PM Internship Scheme?

This internship program will give young people practical, on-the-job training while benefiting companies by creating a pool of skilled, work-ready youth. It will offer 1.25 lakh internship opportunities in 2024-25, eventually reaching the goal of 1 crore internships over the next five years.
