New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Donald Trump on his remarkable win in the US presidential election during a call on Thursday. According to India's Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Modi conveyed India’s respect for the American mandate and expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration between the two countries.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "PM Modi spoke to Donald Trump, and both leaders are committed to working closely for the welfare of people and global peace." They discussed the importance of the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for promoting prosperity, stability, and peace.
Modi-Trump Friendship
Modi also reminisced about his past interactions with Trump, highlighting the 'Howdy Modi' event in Houston and the 'Namaste Trump' gathering in Ahmedabad as milestones in their friendship. Modi even posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Heartiest congratulations, my friend @realDonaldTrump, on your historic election victory."
At age 78, Trump made a historic comeback, becoming the 47th President of the US after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. This victory marks him as the first US President in over a century to serve non-consecutive terms. Trump will take office on January 25
