A BJP leader named Vinod Tawde is facing some serious accusations. He said he stopped at a hotel to talk about the upcoming elections with his party candidate, Rajan Naik. While he was there, some members of a local party called BVA barged in, thinking Tawde was giving out money. Police checked Tawde’s car but didn’t find anything wrong. Tawde invited an investigation to clear his name.
This disagreement happened at Hotel Vivanta in Virar East. Tawde explained that he had a quick discussion with Naik and was leaving when BVA supporters came in. They claimed he was handing out cash. Even after a search by the Election Commission (EC) officers, no evidence was found.
Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena (UBT) said that the Election Commission should be doing its job instead of letting others take charge. Kshitij Thakur, a local politician, mentioned he found a diary with notes about ₹15 crore (150 million rupees) in transactions. His father, Hitendra Thakur, has said that Tawde called him several times to apologize.
Hitendra Thakur, who has connections to a known gangster, is running for office in Nalasopara and his son Kshitij wants to be re-elected in Vasai.
Hitendra Thakur explained that he heard from BJP workers that Tawde was arriving with ₹5 crore. They came with supporters, but only found a diary. He believes the hotel where the meeting was held was involved too since the CCTV cameras were off when he arrived.
Tawde, who has been in politics for 40 years and knows the Thakur family well, said the allegations were misunderstandings. He asked for a fair investigation.
Another BJP leader, Pravin Darekar, called the accusations silly, saying that BVA must be scared of losing elections.
As tensions grew, police were sent to protect Tawde from angry protesters. The authorities are checking all the hotel rooms for evidence linked to the allegations.
In the meantime, an official named Govind Bodke said they would file a report against Tawde because he entered Virar too close to the election and shouldn’t be there. Tawde was also asked to leave the area.
Kiran Kulkarni, from the election office in Maharashtra, stated that they are looking into the complaints made by the BVA.
