A Man Got Job Offer for Suggestions over Zomato's Launches "Food Rescue" Feature to Reduce Food Waste

Zomato's Game-Changer: The 'Food Rescue' Feature
Zomato just introduced a cool new feature called "Food Rescue" to tackle the huge number of canceled food orders on their app—over 400,000 each month! With Food Rescue, customers who cancel their orders can allow nearby users to grab the food at a discount. This food is delivered in no time and is still sealed in its original packaging.

Recently, a man named Bhanu from Bengaluru suggested some great ideas to improve this feature. He thinks Zomato should only let customers cancel prepaid orders, not cash-on-delivery ones. Bhanu also mentioned that customers shouldn't be able to cancel their orders if the delivery person is within 500 meters of their location.

He raised a valid concern that some people might misuse the feature by ordering food just to get discounts. To prevent this, Bhanu suggested that Zomato should limit customers to only two cancellations each month.

Impressed by Bhanu's thoughts, Deepinder Goyal, Zomato's CEO, responded directly on X (formerly Twitter) to express interest in Bhanu's suggestions. Goyal noted that many of the suggested safeguards were already in place, but he was curious to learn more about Bhanu and even hinted at a possible job opportunity.

After Goyal reached out, Bhanu shared that he is a product manager at a startup in Bengaluru and enjoys giving feedback to companies like Zomato. He often tags Zomato and its sister company Blinkit with suggestions, showing his strong interest in improving user experiences.

In his post about the Food Rescue feature, Goyal explained that Zomato sees thousands of canceled orders every month, even with their no-refund rule. Instead of letting the food go to waste, the new feature lets others buy it at a lower price, ensuring the food is safe and in tamper-proof containers. If someone decides to buy a canceled order, the restaurant still gets paid fully, and Zomato doesn’t keep any profit from these resold orders—just covering taxes
