Ranbir Kapoor Reflects on Family Meeting with PM Modi

Ranbir Kapoor recently shared how nervous his family was before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. The meeting came as they celebrated the 100th birthday of their legendary family member, Raj Kapoor, who was a famous movie star.

In a video, Ranbir explained how special the day was for them. He said, “It was an honor for us to meet the PM and talk about my grandfather, Raj Kapoor. We were all quite nervous, but he made us feel so comfortable.”

During the meeting, Ranbir’s aunt, Rima Kapoor, amusingly struggled to find the right words while addressing PM Modi. When she called him by several titles, PM Modi joked, “Cut!” which made everyone laugh.

There were many fun moments at this gathering. Ranbir shared a funny story about a time he got a free taxi ride. He said that while in a car with a taxi driver, the driver asked if he was from India and started singing. When he found out Ranbir was Raj Kapoor’s grandson, he gave him a free ride!

PM Modi also spoke fondly about Raj Kapoor and how his movies affected people. He recalled a story where famous politicians LK Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to see Raj Kapoor’s film after losing an election. PM Modi mentioned how powerful movies were in bringing joy during tough times.

He remembered a time in China when a song by Ranbir’s father, Rishi Kapoor, was playing, and he sent a note to Rishi, who was thrilled to hear it.

PM Modi praised Raj Kapoor for showing India’s culture to the world through film, long before anyone talked about “soft power.” He explained how Raj Kapoor’s movies shaped India’s story, starting back in 1947.
