Dhanush Demands ₹10 Crore from Nayanthara; Footage Permission Controversy Explained

Recently, actor Dhanush sent a legal notice to actress Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and Netflix India. He is demanding ₹10 crore because they used clips without permission from his movie, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, made in 2015.

Meanwhile, Sivaji Productions, the company behind Nayanthara’s 2005 film Chandramukhi, initially claimed they wanted ₹5 crore from her to use clips in her new documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. But they have since clarified that Nayanthara got a No Objection Certificate (NOC), which means she had permission to use the footage.

Film industry tracker Manobala Vijayabalan posted the NOC on social media. The certificate states that Sivaji Productions approves the use of certain clips in Nayanthara’s documentary. It confirmed that Rowdy Pictures, owned by Nayanthara and Vignesh, could use, share, and let others use the footage in the Netflix documentary.

The NOC did not mention any payment, which removes the rumors about the ₹5 crore demand from Sivaji Productions.

Nayanthara previously had a fallout with Dhanush, who refused to allow the use of a three-second behind-the-scenes clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, causing her to express her disappointment publicly.
