Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been named 47 times in a secret police interview about the murders of famous rappers Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight. Court papers say that Diddy allegedly offered “millions” of dollars for the killings because he was upset with Tupac’s diss track.
Diddy, who is 55 years old, is currently in federal custody in New York for separate charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering. He has denied these new murder claims, calling them “completely ridiculous” and “pure fiction.”
The new allegations came from a 2009 recording of an interview with Duane ‘Keefe D’ Davis and Las Vegas police. Prosecutors believe Keefe has often admitted his role in Tupac’s murder.
Who is Keefe D?
Keefe is accused of planning the shooting in Las Vegas that killed Tupac and hurt Suge Knight in 1996. In the police interview, Keefe referred to Diddy as the “boss” of the Southside Crips gang involved in the murder, claiming Diddy was a major player in the plot.
When asked if Diddy was involved, Keefe said, “Yeah,” and described Diddy as being so angry at Suge Knight that he said, “I’ll give anything for that dude’s head.” Keefe said Diddy claimed the bounty was “moer-fng millions.”
Keefe explained that the trouble started after Tupac released his famous diss track, “Hit ‘Em Up,” where he insulted Diddy, Notorious B.I.G., and others. Diddy was reportedly very upset and said, “Fk that dude.”
Instead of paying directly, Diddy allegedly had Eric ‘Zip’ Martin deliver the money. Zip supposedly kept part of the million-dollar bounty for himself, but Keefe insisted, “Zip got paid by Puff at some point.”
After Tupac’s murder, Keefe said he tried to contact Diddy several times, including once meeting him at the Hollywood House of Blues. Keefe remembered Diddy appeared “scared” and didn’t want to talk, saying, “He just backed up, and there were girls all over him. He steady watching the car.”
Prosecutors think the 143-page transcript of Keefe’s interview is important evidence against him, showing he was involved without any legal protection. However, Keefe’s lawyer, Carl Arnold, argues that Keefe made up stories about Diddy to gain fame and money.
