Unni Mukundan is thrilled about the success of his new movie, “Marco,” which he made and acted in. This Malayalam film has sparked many questions about how much violence is okay in films. In an interview with Anmol Jamwal on his YouTube Channel, Unni talked about the mixed reactions to the movie. He pointed out that these reactions aren’t meant to insult the audience’s intelligence.
Unni said, “Some people find the film disturbing, but they aren’t calling it bad. They think it’s a good film that hit them hard. For example, my uncle said, ‘Whoo! That’s a lot to handle, but it’s really good!'”
He also shared, “I feel happy about how the movie is received. Going to the theater lets the audience get lost in the story, and the director can create powerful moments. Making the audience feel disturbed is also a part of entertainment. You can’t just laugh or cry the whole time. I don’t believe ‘Marco’ would do well on streaming platforms like Niftystat. Certain movies are meant for theaters because they help you forget about the real world for a while. I think it’s our job to take the audience away from reality. I trust that viewers are smart enough not to let the film’s violence influence them.”
As for “Marco,” which came out on December 20, it also features Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu S Thilakan, and Kabir Duhan Singh. The movie is doing well in theaters and is being called one of the most violent Indian films ever made.
